One step closer
Friday was my last official full-time day at Tech Corporate giant.
Although I'm looking forward to working part-time and having more time to dedicate to writing, I also learned that the full-time person they hired in my place will be starting May 22. I'm definitely trying not to be bitter about essentially being told I wasn't quite good enough to interview for the role (yes that I was already doing) because I know that's just a bullshit tactic companies do in this day when so many of us get caught in contractor status.
I think the main worry I have is about the loss of steady paycheck sooner than expected. I have three trips coming up between now and August - one of which I'm not even sure I'll have a place to stay since it's a wedding in upstate NY with only 1 hotel :-/ . So far Reykjavik is turning into the most expensive trip EVAH, but I'm looking for ward to it.
Back to my worry over the loss of the steady paycheck, let me just clarify that. It's loss of a steady paycheck that can pay my bills. I'll be eligible for unemployment but in the Bay Area, that $1800 pre-tax monthly check is barely enough to cover rent, so I'm really thinking about relocating to someplace cheaper...
Annnnd I just updated my schedule. I'm going to focus more on the screenplay for awhile since i can hopefully use that spec script as a calling card to be considered for other work.
