Crunch time
Things are about to get super busy for me.
First of all, I found a new job! Yay! I'll be Creative Project Manager at a well-known tech company that supplies payment options to other companies. I'm not naming any names 1) because I just don't do that in general and 2) I'm only contracting for now. The job itself is contract for 3 months, I hope to see if I fit in/can do the work and after 3 months I get converted to full-time. To be honest, the pay is pretty bad for contracting there so I'll have to keep my ear to the ground about their intentions to convert. I may just find myself looking for a full-time position starting in May.
In addition to the new job, I'm also taking 2 classes at Berkeley. One is the final class for a project management certificate I started a few years ago and another counts towards the Agile Management certificate I'm also working on. Both classes are really interesting, but I'm finding them a bit on the intense side, especially compared to other classes I've taken from this program. One class is on quality and risk assessment and the other is on leading Agile transformations in organizations. Both have a lot of reading, and a lot of homework. If I had none how intense they were, I definitely wouldn't have taken them both together, not to mention the fact that I'm taking them during the first month of a new job that I'm trying to impress my employers as much as possible.
I've also started, sort of, going to the gym daily. I say sort of because that's my goal, to get back in the habit, but in reality I'm averaging about 2-3 times a week. What's really going to hurt is starting tomorrow, I'm going to start going before work from 7-8. More on that weight loss plan in another post. I ended up losing 11 pounds since being cooped up during Covid, so that's pretty good especially since I was on a see food diet, fell into a vat of kouign-amann at one point and was generally thinking as long as I fit in my robe, it's cool.
My apartment is still a mess. I did want to clean a bit more and start getting rid of shit like the dining table I use as a desk but I didn't get to it. I have no excuses. I'm lazy.
Writing wise, I haven't been doing much of it. I started a new self-help book about ADD tips since that's definitely a thing again in my life. The lack of structure I've had the last 18 months doesn't help.
So, all of that to say that I'm going to be busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest for the next 4-5 weeks. Once both the classes are over (Agile end 4/22 and Quality on 5/2), I'm going to have so much more time to devote to the corp job, writing and getting my apartment together.
