An actual werk post

Remember that list of 8 items I want to work on over the next 4 months?

1) write 3 short stories
2) plan my novel
3) complete first draft of my horror screenplay
4) find magazines and competitions to submit my short stories to
5) develop marketing plan for screenplay
6) find a local writing group where people submit work and give feedback
7) figure out one or 2 side hustles in case my contract can't be extended past 4 months
8) figure out how to organize all my writing projects and keeping track

I've already completely one thing (#8). I think the system I have should work for me in terms of keeping of track of what I'm working on. I gave myself some intermediate deadlines to work towards for each of the three projects I'll be working on. What's not completely clear is if those deadlines are going to be overly ambitious or not.

In my corporate gig as a Sr, Localization Project Manager, I'm like 98% sure how much time certain things will take. Writing is a whole other animal. For instance, here's the deadlines I have for the first short :

Plan : 3/25 Draft 1 : 4/22 Draft 2: 4/29 Draft 3 : 5/6

I have no clue if I can have a first draft done in 4 weeks. In theory, on paper, it looks ti me like it should be possible since the planning will (should?) be done by the 25th. So, we'll see how it goes.

My other deadlines have Draft 2 of 2024 ready by October 14 and Draft 2 of the Untitled horror screenplay by July 8.

I'm really interested to see how I get on with 3 projects concurrently. Since I want to do this full-time, I think I need to get used to working on multiple projects at a time. I hope that since each one is a bit different (short, novel, and screenplay...two horror and one science fiction)
